The Mushlets

The Mushlets are younger than our Mushlers heroes. They are not really conscious of being individuals yet, so they behave and move around as a group – like a flock of slightly out of control ducklings!

Sushi-Mushi

Sushi-Mushi is the village chef who is a whizz at cooking up delicious compost recipes – delicious to a Mushable that is! He has a booming laugh and a big, theatrically over-the-top but very warm personality.

However, Sushi-Mushi is very picky about good manners. And you really don’t want to get on the wrong side of Sushi-Mushi because, don’t forget, he can react in a very over-the-top way!

Chanterelle

Chanterelle is an artist. She is the creative heart of the community and her pockets are always stuffed full of paintbrushes and crayons. Chanterelle is always ready to organize a celebration or some other peculiar Mushable event. Only thing is she is not very organized and tends to panic quite randomly!

Mushpot

Mushpot is the oldest Mushable in the village. He has lived through many of the great Mushable events of legend – the autumn hurricane, the great mud slide, the evening beetle stampede, or was it grasshoppers? Mushpot is pretty sure it was beetles.

Anyway, the stories Mushpot could tell… if only he could remember them! So sometimes, he just improvises… Even though Mushpot has become a touch unpredictable and tends to take naps at random times and places, he will always be revered and loved by everyone in Mushton. Mushpot is sort of everybody’s grandpa. Everybody’s forgetful and sometimes hilarious grandpa!

Morel

Morel is patient and trusting. He is also a font of knowledge and anecdotes, both useful and also utterly and entertainingly random. Chep, of course, loves learning facts big and small, weird and wonderful, from Morel. Morel looks after the Mushlets. This is where his patience, kindness – and storytelling talents! – are most effective. Even if he also spends a lot of time chasing after them!

Bolly

Go Bolly! Bolly is a speedy little dude who is always racing about, eager to please. Bolly just loves fixing things and doing errands and immediately puts his hand up to volunteer for any job – big or small. In fact, he’s a natural at anything technical. Whether it’s a beetle with a stiff leg, a cart with a broken wheel, or a snail that has lost a load of parcels all over a path, Bolly will be there in a jiffy to try and fix the problem. Go Bolly! The little guy always moves around and speaks so fast that it’s hard to follow him or to understand what he says…

Truff

Everybody loves Truff. He’s a laid-back, surfer dude type, with an easy laugh and a shoulder-shrugging aw-shucks quality to him. Truff just doesn’t take himself too seriously which makes him even more likeable! Truff loves nothing better than to lie back in a meadow and look up at the sky, admiring the clouds or letting himself get swept away watching a sunset. Yep, everything is alright and sweet as in Truff’s world. Mush-Mush, Chep and Lilit really love him – he’s like the good-natured, easy-going, always smiling big brother everyone would like to have.

Fung and Miff

Fung and Miff are two Mushlers who are a little bit older than Mush-Mush and his friends, who generally try to avoid them, and with good reason. Fung and Miff are mischief-makers, who find it funny to try and spoil things for any Mushlers smaller and younger than them. It’s not that Fung and Miff are totally mean or bad, it’s just that they like to push boundaries and egg each other onto do stupid things. Luckily for Mush-Mush, Chep and Lilit, Fung and Miff aren’t quite as clever as they think they are. Fung is the leader of the two – the one who thinks up most of their schemes.

Mush-Mush’s outgoing nature and confidence has firmly put him on Fung and Miff’s radar. They’ve decided that, because Mush-Mush is always trying to have adventures and do special things he must think he’s special, and so they should knock him and his friends down to size!

Sumush

Sumush is deaf and mute, and also incredibly strong. He is a calm ‘gentle giant’ who is a reassuring presence to have around – a little like Chewbacca. Sumush’s remarkable strength also comes in extremely handy when you need to lift a huge boulder that has rolled into the middle of the path, or when your wagon breaks a wheel and needs a push.

Puff

Puff is a shy Mushable who always wants to do things right. He likes things to run smoothly and for Mushables to follow the rules. Too bad there aren’t really any rules in Mushworld! He’s very emotional and easily gets startled. And when that happens, he lets out a puff of mush-smoke out of the top of his hat.

Mushpie

Mushpie could be seen as the ‘head’ of Mushton, though there is no such thing as a mayor in Mushworld. She cheerfully runs the Mushies cave where she looks after the Mushies. She is always full of energy and on her toes – two essential skills for dealing with Mushies! They may only be baby Mushables but they are quite capable of causing havoc! But she’s still quick to hug them tight in her soft arms whenever she gets a chance. Mushpie can take her nurturing too far though, and like an overly attentive aunt who constantly forgets how old and capable you are now, she can sometimes ‘baby’ Mushlers, Mushups and even Mushelders!

Mushies

Starmush

Starmush is a legendary Mushelder who roams Mushworld alone. Mushables have many stories featuring the amazing deeds of Starmush and these stories where he saves the day yet again are often told to Mushlets. But the reality is somewhat less heroic. Starmush does exist, and yes he does have amazing powers of healing plants, but he is not some super-hero who will come to the rescue. Starmush is a cranky loner who likes his own company and is not so keen on being around other Mushables. He might help you, or he might not. Or he might try to put you off approaching him ever again. It depends on his mood and maybe how the moon and the stars are aligned!
